I TOTALLY FORGOT TO MENTION!
I watched the tv movie/pilot for SG-1 a few nights ago! And I loved it! Yes, there are a few couple of things that bothered me - the unnecessary nude scene, and those snake-like parasites - but all in all I loved it!
Jack is...well, Jack, typical militar, but with great character development. His regret and sorrow over his son, his worry and attachment with the children of Abydos - especially Skaara - all made for a nice character! I felt more for him in this than in the movie - the focus on the movie was on Daniel, not him, he was just the tough militar guy with nothing else to loose, and who had a suicide mission. They made him more three dimensional in the pilot, and showed more his feelings and motives.
I LOVED DANIEL! He is such an adorable geek! Michael Shanks is definitely prettier than James Spader - especially when I remember him old, fat, and AS A LAWYER in Boston Legal - and he nailed Daniel spot on! Very similar to the character in the movie, but also with characteristics of his own. And I love that he was with Sha'uri, but I saw coming beforehand what happened - the GOODBYE KISS, anyone? - and since I read some spoilers pertaining to the last SG-1 season andAeryn Sun Vala, I think Sha'uri doesn't have a very long life in this show...and WHAT'S UP WITH THAT GIRL'S HAIR? It scared the living daylights out of me! I DEFINITELY prefer the movie Sha'uri!
The very first scene Sam appeared? LOVED IT! She is a militar, but she is also aastrophysics scientist GEEK! And she gets on Jack's nerves! AND THE UST IN THE VERY FIRST SCENE WAS GREAT!
I like Kowalski! "If we don't go back..." "We go after you to save your sorry a**es!" LOL! I was actually kinda mad at the end of the episode because of him, and Skaara, I hope both turn out ok...I hope!
And at last but not least...The MacGyver reference? - "It took us 15 years and three supercomputers to MacGyver a system for the gate on Earth." - And the LOOK and roll of eyes Richard Dean Anderson gave afterwards? PRICELESS!
It left me hoping there'll be at least ONE Farscape reference when Ben Browder and Claudia Black join the cast in the last few seasons! ;)
Btw, Claudia IS very lucky with the actors chosen to pair up with her characters! XD First Ben, now Michael...lucky girl! XD
